Amashutu Ridgebacks had their origins in 1983. When work requirements determined that I would be away from home for weeks at a time, we decided that Barbara required a companion and protector. When visiting friends one day we noticed this handsome brownie colored dog. The dog just lazed around until it saw a rabbit in the paddock at which time it became a ball of life and energy. Inquiring about the dog we found that it was a Rhodesian Ridgeback and was native to the country from where my friend's wife had grown up. After that we took every opportunity to learn more about the breed. Every thing we found only reconfirmed that this was the breed for us. This web page is primarily a reflection of the times we had with our original dogs and the things we got to do with them. These activities have ranged from being members of the PAL Super Dog Team, Lure Coursing, and Hunting and just generally hanging around.

Have a look around, hopefully you will find some activities that you can relate to with your own dogs. After you have finished please come back to visit other RR related sites.

Like most people involved with ridgebacks over a period of time there is always the one or two that leave a lasting impression, for us it was our first two dogs and for entirely different reasons. So different in so many ways but so similar in others.
